Postdoctoral Position - Department of Immunology

Summary

Investigator: Virginia Smith Shapiro, Ph.D. Associate Professor

A postdoctoral position is available after August 1, 2008 as part of an NIH-funded project to build upon our initial genetic screens to identify novel regulators of T cell development and activation. As proof-of-principle using this approach, we have recently cloned a novel transcriptional repressor that is absolutely required for the development of several hematopoietic lineages. Our research crosses many disciplines: Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cancer and Development. The ideal canidate should have a recent doctoral degree in any of those fields, as demonstrated by 1-2 first author papers publications resulting from their dissertation. Previous experience with genetic screens and shRNA/siRNA knockdown is preferred. Creative and highly motivated applicants are stongly encouraged to apply.
